Kristin and I made this sweet bow holder out of 3" PVC pipe, lined with velvet and a moisture-blocking screw-top lid. Now I have a safe way to transport the bows to my mentor's studio, the local violin shop, and everywhere inbetween.
-No superglue! You need to have setting time to make sure things are properly aligned. And with G glue, get rid of any excess that spills out wheb you're tightening the faceplate into position! - DR -Placement of the head mortise is critical: at least 4 mm to the back of the head & not too close to the cheek edges with the front corners. And the mortise must be long enough for a sufficient winding, with its front wall beveled. Good luck! - DR
Wow, Spencer -- I knew you were handy with house projects, but making violin bows -- cool!
ReplyDeleteYou're so awesome and handsome and clever and everything else. Where did you get all these skills??
ReplyDeleteIt may be time to post your latest pictures and developments. You've got lots to show! I'm waiting here with bated breath...
ReplyDeleteI think all these ideas should be under patent. Steinway and Sons has a nice ring, but I really like the sound of Spencer and Sons.
