The tip of the bow is protected (strengthened) from accidental blows by a covering of ebony and ivory. I've glued the two pieces together with gorilla glue and then filed the head to fit perfectly into the profile of the tip.
-No superglue! You need to have setting time to make sure things are properly aligned. And with G glue, get rid of any excess that spills out wheb you're tightening the faceplate into position! - DR -Placement of the head mortise is critical: at least 4 mm to the back of the head & not too close to the cheek edges with the front corners. And the mortise must be long enough for a sufficient winding, with its front wall beveled. Good luck! - DR
